Asperger syndrome, sometimes just called Asperger or Asperger's, is a type of autism spectrum disorder in which a child has repetitive or restrictive patterns of behavior and thought. To put it more simply: Children with the condition want to know everything about a given topic of interest, and their conversations with others will be about little else.
This is the primary symptom of this disorder. Other Asperger symptoms include:
Repetitive routines or rituals
Problems with nonverbal communication
Peculiarities in speech and language
Clumsy and uncoordinated motor movements.
Treatment often includes social skills training, cognitive behavioral therapy, medication for coexisting conditions, and other measures.
